Lifting Pineapples

If you grew up in Hawaii and played any sport, one of the first stretches you would learn was called “picking pineapples.” Originally the name came from the American term “cherry picking,” but why were we taught to “pick” pineapples instead of cherries? Well, let me explain.

In Hawaiian history, the pineapple has always played a significant role. Brought over by foreign plantation owners because of our rich and fertile soil, pineapples could be grown year round. Business was expanded as more land was sold off and thus, “picking pineapples” was born.

Growing up I’ve learned to appreciate the beauty of these islands while also understanding the painful history that comes with it. As a native Hawaiian mixed with other ethnicities, I’ve learned to let go, adapt, but never forget the history that runs through the DNA of my ancestors.

There’s a saying in Hawaii: “He ali’i ka ‘āina; he kauwā ke kanaka,” which translates to the land is chief, man are the servants. My goal is to change our relationship with natural foods and its effects on our energetic bodies - in hopes that we can all be able to carry out sustainable, healthy, and fit lifestyles.

I invite you into my world through health and fitness. I hope that after joining my online program you will have acquired the knowledge to keep your body operating at higher energetic levels.

Stay blessed, stay healthy, stay focused.

Aloha.
